Xavier Gilcher turns a double play for Rising Sun, which defeated Elkton 15-0 in District 5 Senior Baseball action on Sunday.

Four different players scored multiple times as Rising Sun shut out Elkton, 15-0, in five innings to advance in the District 5 Senior Baseball Tournament at Chesapeake City Little League on Sunday.

Xavier Gilcher scored three times and Noah England, Daniel Tserkis and Jon Valentine all crossed the plate twice for Rising Sun, which opened with a six-run first inning. 

Rising Sun advances to face Chesapeake City on Tuesday. 

Ches. City. 19, Perryville 0

Charlie Mason singled three times and scored three times, Casin Brown had two hits and three runs and Hunter Coverdale doubled twice and singled twice with three runs for Chesapeake City, which received two hits and two runs scored from AJ Hoferer. 

Chesapeake City advances to face Rising Sun on Tuesday. 

Senior Softball

Perryville 8, Elkton 7

Brook Strong (single), Abby James (double and a single), Brianna Rebman (two doubles and a single) and Sydney Lynch (single) all scored once, Baynn Price had three singles and scored three times and Gabby Pileggi walked, had a double and drove in a run for Perryville, which will play in the championship Monday against Rising Sun.

Elkton's pitcher Iyana Jury had four stikeouts and two walks and a single, Azares Visser doubled twice, singled and had two RBIs, Autumn Simpson doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Hanna Workman also singled for Elkton, which received an RBI and two runs scored from Lili Sims and a hit and a run each from Mikayla Jefferson and Maddie Sheets.
