NJCAA Division II Region XX Men's Basketball Tournament

Cornell Corbin, pictured, and Cecil College fell in the final four of the NCJAA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament on Saturday in Danville, Ill.

A remarkable season for the Cecil College men's basketball team ended one game away from the national championship.

Freshman guard Jacob Falko (Tri-State Christian) saw his game-tying 3-pointer just miss as the 14th-seeded Seahawks fell in overtime to No. 2 Johnson County Community College, 81-78, on Friday in the semifinals of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Ill.

The postseason run marked the furthest Cecil (23-12) has advanced since it won the program's only national title in 2006. This season's improbable campaign came after the Seahawk started the year 2-8.

Prior to Friday, Cecil had won 21 of its previous 24.

McKale Williams finished with 22 points off the bench, while Falko (three steals, two assists) and Shylier Ringgold had 14 points each for Cecil, which received 13 points, six rebounds and three assists from Cornell Corbin.

The Seahawks will play Erie Community College in Saturday's 6:30 p.m. men's third-place game.
