ELKTON — A Cecil County man was killed Wednesday night in a single-vehicle crash on an Elkton-area road, police reported.
Investigators identified the victim as Stefone Jamal James, 34, of Elkton.
An ambulance transported James from the accident scene in the 300 block of Brewster Bridge Road, north of Elkton, to Christiana Hospital in Delaware, where he was pronounced dead, according to Lt. Michael Holmes, a Cecil County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
James was driving a 2005 Acura in the eastbound lane of Brewster Bridge Road at approximately 8 p.m., when he lost control of the vehicle on a left curve, police said. At that point, police added, James' car crossed into the westbound lane and then veered off the right side of the road, before crashing into a tree.
After emergency workers extricated James from the vehicle, an ambulance crew transported him to the Delaware hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving there, police reported. James was the sole occupant of the vehicle, police noted.
CCSO Dfc. Bryan Shockey, lead investigator, conducted the on-scene accident reconstruction, according to Holmes. The accident remains under investigation, he reported.
According to Cecil Whig records, James is at least the 13th traffic-related death on a county road this year.
