Letters to the Editor

The Exelon Electric Generation plant at the Conowingo Dam does not make the sediment that is building up behind the dam to produce electricity.

The sediment comes from far above the dam because of soil erosion, a byproduct of poor vegetative cover for far too long during rainstorms.

Our federal government and states above the dam should have slowed or stopped the sediment runoff that still is coming down the Susquehanna River in too great of quantities.

Exelon should be given an award for containment of the sediment that would otherwise be downriver. Put barges in the right place and clean it up, but stop blaming Exelon.
