The definition of inflation has been changed in recent years to support the government’s need to expand the money supply and allow for massive spending. Inflation is an increase in the amount of currency in circulation, resulting in a relatively sharp and sudden fall in its value and a general rise in prices. A 1950’s, or early dictionary will cite this definition, but a current definition speaks of market effects.
