It’s difficult to understand the decision by the Republican Central Committee to banish three upstanding local leaders: Joyce Bowlsby, Bill Coutz and Alan McCarthy. The explanation for dismissal included the fact that one of them “was seen speaking to a Democratic candidate”.
Really? Is this the sixth grade?
These three represent valuable experience, vast local historical contributions and a wealthy resource. They are not perfect (well, Ms. Bowlsby may be); however, they are passionate about Cecil County and have much to contribute.
This action appears to be short-sighted retribution, not embracing future “big tent” opportunities.
I’m seventy-five. A lifelong Republican.
I’ve never been so disappointed in local politics.
Some mature behavior would benefit us all. No more bullying.
