National Voter Registration Day

ELKTON — The Cecil County Board of Elections will join the celebration Tuesday for National Voter Registration Day.

This is the 9th year for the civic celebration that strives to get those 18 and older registered to participate in their local, state and federal elections.

Ruie Marie Lavoie, director of the board of elections, said she hopes other organizations will also participate by making voter registration forms available and helping those who need it to get the forms completed.

"We are having a table in the lobby of the Cecil County Administrative Building," Lavoie said.

Frazier Walker, spokeswoman for Cecil County Public Libraries, said the staff at every library branch is able to help patrons access the online form and assist with filling it out, or printing out the form to mail in later.

According to NVRD, more than 1.5 million registered to vote in the 2020 campaign, and 4.5 million in total have registered on Sept. 28 since the project began in 2012.
