RISING SUN — After a quiet election with no contests, Mayor Travis Marion and Commissioners Joe Shephard and Dave Warnick were sworn in last week by Charlene Notarcola, Cecil County Clerk of the Court.

“The future is in the hands of this board and the citizens of Rising Sun,” Marion said. “We’re looking to bring a variety of new services here.”

This is his third term in the mayoral post after serving one term as a town commissioner.

“This is truly an exciting time for Rising Sun,” Marion said, pointing to the development of 90% of the center of town. “The rebirth of our main street in happening. Rising Sun is a town to watch.”

Shephard is now officially elected to the seat to which he was appointed in April. He served the remaining six months of Allen Authenreath’s term.

Warnick, meanwhile, enters his third term, having been first elected in 2014; the same year Marion became mayor.
