ELKTON — The 10th Annual Homicide Memorial Wall and Walk in the Unity Garden in front of the Cecil County Circuit Courthouse will be held this year in May — not April, as it had been done the previous nine years, according to the Cecil County State's Attorney's Office, which sponsors the event.
The event, which memorializes murder and manslaughter victims, as well as people who lost their lives at the hands of drunken and/or drugged drivers and boaters, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 29 in front of the courthouse at 129 E. Main St. in Elkton, and it is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Valda Rotolo, the SAO's victim-witness coordinator, explained that a heavy caseload in the form of scheduled trials in April forced planners to push back this year's Homicide Memorial Wall and Walk into May.
As in years past, the names and, or, photos of victims will adorn a makeshift wall and colorful placards will line the sidewalk of the front courtyard during the May 29 event.
Survivors wanting to add the names and, or, photos of their lost loved ones can do so by calling Rotolo at 410-996-5342. People wanting more information about the Homicide Memorial Wall and Walk also can call that number.
