NORTH EAST — An investigation is continuing after a blaze damaged a gazebo on a residential property near North East, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
A neighbor called 911 at 11:29 p.m. on Sunday after discovering the burning outbuilding in the 100 block of Furrow Lane, prompting area volunteer fire companies to respond, fire officials said. The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun served as the on-scene command unit, fire officials added.
Approximately a dozen volunteer firefighters battled the blaze for about 10 minutes, before bringing it under control, fire officials reported.
The blaze caused an estimated $100 in structural damage to the gazebo, according to a MOSFM spokesperson.
MOSFM detectives determined that the blaze started on the roofline of the gazebo, fire officials said. As of Wednesday night, fire officials added, investigators were still trying to determine what caused the blaze, fire officials added.
