ELKTON — High school students will get the chance to participate in career and college networking opportunities and workshops during a College and Career Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Elkton High School, located at 110 James Street.
The event will feature representatives from more than 60 colleges, businesses, military branches and other organizations tabling and answering questions from attendees.
Joanna Zimmerman, coordinator of guidance services for Cecil County Public Schools, said high school students of all grade levels and at all stages of their career and college searches will find opportunities for professional and educational growth through the fair.
“This event often can serve as the initial steps to the college and career investigation by our students,” Zimmerman said. “Freshmen and sophomores may be exploring different career opportunities and areas of interest. Juniors will be able to become more specific about their career goals. Seniors will continue to finalize plans and get more detailed answers to questions.
From 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., CCPS school counselors and Cecil College representatives will give workshop presentations on various topics, including financial aid, NCAA eligibility, how to navigate higher education for students with disabilities, beginning the college search, and the college application process and essays.
