Spring turkey hunt a success

Cecil County hunters had a banner year in the just finished spring turkey hunt according to Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Hunters bagged 89 of the wild game birds, up from 69 the previous season.

ANNAPOLIS — Cecil County was one of the top 10 counties in Maryland’s most recent turkey hunting season, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Hunters here bagged 89 of the birds in the spring season, up from 69 the previous year.

Statewide 4,002 turkeys were harvested in the hunt with Garrett County leading the charge at 429. The April season numbers also include the Junior Hunt; which kicked off turkey season on April 13.
