ELKTON — An investigation is continuing after a blaze destroyed a shed on a property near Elkton on Friday morning, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
A neighbor called 911 at 6:24 a.m., after discovering the burning outbuilding in the 700 block of West Pulaski Highway (Route 40), prompting area volunteer fire companies to respond, fire officials said. Singerly Volunteer Fire Company of Elkton served as the on-scene command unit, fire officials added.
Approximately 10 volunteer firefighters battled the blaze for about 10 minutes, before bringing it under control, fire officials reported.
The fire destroyed the 10’-by-10’ shed, which had an estimated value of $1,000, according to an MOSFM spokesperson. No one was injured, the spokesperson reported.
An investigation continued later on Friday, as MOSFM detectives tried to pinpoint where the blaze started and to determine what caused it, according to fire officials.
