ELKTON — Investigation continues into a blaze that destroyed a shed on an Elkton property late Saturday night, causing an estimated $2,000 in damages. The shed and its contents, located in the 400 block of Muddy Lane, were completely destroyed.

The fire was discovered at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Saturday by the homeowner, who promptly called 9-11. Five firefighters from Singerly Fire Company responded to the single alarm emergency and fought the flames for five minutes. No injuries from the blaze were reported.

The 8’-by-10’ shed was declared a loss due to the fire, along with its contents. Investigators did not release information on the sheds contents.

The cause and origin of the fire continue to be under investigation. According to investigators, a burn barrel located nearby could not be ruled out as a possible cause for the shed fire.
