Low-cost, local events happening this week. To be included, your event must be family friendly and take place in Cecil County as well as adjoining areas within a 20-minute drive. Please submit the event title, time and address in the body of an email to accent@cecilwhig.com at least a week before. Once approved by an editor, the event will be listed until its completion date. This is a free event for Cecil County residents to bring in unused or expired medications, gasoline, batteries, pesticides, and other hazardous waste. Consult the Cecil County Department of Public Works Solid Waste Management Division for a full list of accepted items. The following will not be accepted at the event: electronics, ammunition, fireworks, tires, gun flares, commercial hazardous waste, trash, brush, yard waste, recyclables and wastes not listed. There wll be fun activities for children and teens as well as many local vendors. Bring lawn chair sand listen to live music from tow great bands: The Late Ambitions and Old 442. The festival is hosted by Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America and New Garden Township. While judges will be sampling BBQ competitors' chicken and ribs entries, the public can purchase food and drinks from various vendors. The festival will help defray the cost of scouting for many area youth. Tickets will be available at the gates or can be purchased at www.brandywinebbq.com.
