Low-cost, local events happening this week. To be included, your event must be family friendly and take place in Cecil County as well as adjoining areas within a 20-minute drive. Please submit the event title, time and address in the body of an email to accent@cecilwhig.com at least a week before. Once approved by an editor, the event will be listed until its completion date. TREE LIGHTING AND START OF WINTERFEST, 6 p.m., Pell Gardens, 20 Bohemia Ave., Chesapeake City. Seasonal musical entertainment provided by students from Bohemia Manor Chorus. Santa arrives by Clydesdale carriage to throw the switch, lighting the tree and all the Winterfest Lights throughout the town. Santa will draw the Stash of Cash Holiday Raffle ($500) Winner! Come start the season with a small town Christmas celebration! Winterfest runs Dec. 1 to Jan. 6. Both North and South sides of town will be decked out for the holidays with large lighted seasonal figures depicting activities of the season and the region. Accenting the Winterfest Lights are the multitude of decorations by residents and businesses that help to create a magical Christmas wonderland. Lights come on at dusk.

Enhance your skills with a live model each week. This is a 2 hour session. Bring your art supplies, the rest will be supplied by the arts council. Cost is $5 per person.
