Perryville Lions Club hosts CASA speaker

King Lion Sal Capuccio presents Sally Warner with a well-deserved certificate of appreciation.

In May, the Perryville Lions Club welcomed Sally Warner, case worker of CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate of Cecil County). Their mission, in the court system, is to advocate for and support abused and neglected children. They achieve this mission through the work of specially trained volunteers from the community who advocate for the best interest of the children. Warner said the volunteer assists the foster child and foster family with medical and educational needs as well as court-related activities. The children range in age from infants to 21 years, and during that time the CASA worker may be the only consistent person in the child’s life. The worker must have a background check and 40 hours of training. Warner stated that there is an immediate and ongoing need for advocates, as well as donations and participation in their fundraising events.
