NORTH EAST — Counting from World War I to the current global conflicts in the Middle East, there are 86,532 United States military personnel who are missing in action or prisoners of war.
MIDDLE RIVER — Manufacturing plants in the United States churned out more than 300,000 military planes during World War II, including 18,000 B-24s and 4,000 B-29s, and nearly 100,000 of them were lost in combat or training.
ROCK HALL — Pvt. Bernard Franklin Elburn of Piney Neck, who was a casualty of the North African campaigns of World War II, will receive a Memorial Day salute at his parents’ gravesite in Wesley Chapel cemetery on May 27.
PORT DEPOSIT — “Taps” is 24 notes and roughly a minute in length, but to those laying a veteran to rest, that minute will be remembered for a lifetime.
