Groovin' in the Grass

Ladew Gardens will once again host its popular Groovin’ in the Grass concert series this summer.

MONKTON — Ladew Topiary Gardens is pleased to announce the 2019 Groovin’ in the Grass summer concert series, which will feature eight family-friendly concerts from June 16 through Aug. 4. For more than 25 years, Ladew Gardens has been hosting summer concerts on Sunday evenings in the Great Bowl — the centerpiece of Ladew’s 22 acres of formal and historical gardens. Concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m., and the gates open at 5 p.m.

Guests are invited to bring their blankets, chairs, food and non-alcoholic beverages. Please leave at home: alcohol (per the Harford County Liquor Board), sports equipment, pets, tents, beach umbrellas and portable grills. Food from the Ladew Café and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available for purchase.

Concert admission includes visiting the gardens: Ladew members $9, adults $18, seniors (62+) and students $15, children (12 and under) $5. Concert tickets are sold online at, and are also available at the gate.

The 2019 summer concert schedule:

June 16 (Father’s Day): Jazz Caravan: Five-piece jazz, rhythm and blues band offering pep and musical punch with a broad array of swing classics and bluesy favorites.

June 23: The Klassix: One of Harford County’s most popular bands, presenting classic rock and top 40 tunes.

June 30: Red Dirt Revolution: Favorite country hits with dual driving guitar sounds and pinpoint harmony vocals.

July 7: Sons of Pirates: Hot summer songs of Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley as well as sing-a-long classic tunes from the Eagles and James Taylor.

July 14: Charm City Junction: A combination of old-time rhythms, foot-stomping Irish melodies and hard-driving bluegrass.

July 21: Tumblehome: Rock, soul, blues and jazz, with horns and great harmony.

July 28: Re-Live the Beatles: The Tribute: John, Paul, George and Ringo re-create the outstanding career and influential music of the Beatles.

Aug. 4: Josh Christina Band: Music in the great tradition of rock’s pioneers such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Elton John. www.josh
