NORTH EAST — More than 60 people contributed to Cecil College’s Help-a-Tot Trot fundraiser at the end of November, and many did so by running, jogging or walking while carrying a gift for a child.
Staff, students and community members participated in the event, which benefited Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. Participants were required to bring at least one item off the hospital’s Children Child Life Wish List. Many gave multiple toys, books, crafts and gift cards.
For the actual race, 14 teams of four completed a one-mile indoor and outdoor course on the Cecil College campus while carrying the donated gifts. Students Alexandria Addison, Nicole Borden, Sam Padnam and Megan Breeza were the first to cross the finish line. Others chose to donate toys, but did not participate in the race.
Cecil’s Fitness and Wellness Center staff delivered a van full of the presents collected earlier this holiday season.
