Sharp Energy, Inc., the largest propane retailer on the Delmarva Peninsula and a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation announced the expansion of operations and service to Perryville, Md. With this expansion, Sharp Energy will now be able to serve customers in Cecil Country, MD and the surrounding areas.
"Cecil County business owners and residents have been asking us to bring Sharp's propane service to their area for a long time," said Bob Zola, Sharp Energy's President and Chief Operating Officer. "With the impending military base relocation and increasing demand for our service, Perryville is the natural place to establish our operation. We're really excited to be able to serve the people in this area."
Sharp Energy also welcomed Richard Young, a Cecil County resident, delivery driver and service technician. With eight years of experience in the propane industry, Young has completed the Certified Employee Training Program from the National Propane Gas Association, and holds a Maryland Gasfitters Certificate.
Based in Salisbury, Maryland, Sharp Energy distributes propane to approximately 33,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Pennsylvania. It also has four rail facilities and over 2 million gallons of propane storage.
Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is a diversified utility company engaged in natural gas distribution, transmission and marketing; electric distribution; propane distribution and wholesale marketing; advanced information services and other related businesses. The company is based in Dover and is also planning to add natural gas service in Cecil Couny.
